Description
Medium-sized, bushy, slow growing deciduous shrub (H 2-3 m, W 2-3 m). Crown ovate to broadly spherical. Leaves egg-shaped (10 cm), leathery, glossy, mid to dark green, autumn colour red-orange to dark red. Flowers in dense, almost round inflorescence, simple (1 cm), white. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits elongate ovate (0,7 cm), fleshy, smooth, glossy, bright red, dark red to black. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Undemanding shrub, grows well under trees, in half-shade, prefers moist soils. Viburnum × burkwoodii is a cross between V. carlesii and V. utile.
