Description
Medium-sized, compact, slow growing deciduous shrub (H 1,5-2 m, W 1,2-1,5 m). Crown ovate, dense. Leaves broadly ovate (4-7 cm), glossy, mid to dark green, underneath grey-green hairy; autumn colour partly yellow to red-orange. Flowers in dense, almost round inflorescence, simple (1 cm), white; strongly scented. Flowering period: April-May, in autumn second flowering. Attracts butterflies and bees. Undemanding shrub, grows well under trees, in half-shade, prefers moist soils; it prefers slightly sheltered site. Viburnum × burkwoodii is a cross between V. carlesii and V. utile.
