Description
Medium-sized, bushy, slow growing semi-evergreen shrub (H 2,5-3 m, W 2-2,5 m). Crown ovate to rounded. Leaves broadly ovate (4-7 cm), glossy, mid to dark green, underneath grey-green hairy; autumn colour partly yellow to red-orange. Flowers in dense, almost round inflorescence, simple (1 cm), in buds light pink, open white; strongly scented. Flowering period: April-May, in autumn second flowering. Fruits elongate ovate (0,7 cm), fleshy, smooth, glossy, bright red, dark red to black. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Undemanding shrub, grows well under trees, in half-shade, prefers moist soils; it prefers slightly sheltered site. Viburnum × burkwoodii is a cross between V. carlesii and V. utile.
