Description
Medium-sized, broad, fast growing deciduous tree (H 10-14 m, W 8-12 m). Crown broad, flattened spherical to umbrella-shaped, open. Branches widely spreading. Bark dark grey, smooth. Leaves ovate (20-35 cm), pinnately compound, 5-9-lobed, slightly hairy, dark olive green, lighter beneath. Flowers tiny, in large, rich inflorescence (10-15 cm), white, with yellow anthers, scented. Flowering period: August-September. Fruits ovate (up to 1 cm), dark red. Attracts butterflies and bees, an exellent plant for bees. Grows well in sufficiently drained, dry soils, in sun or semi-shade.
