Description
Small, pillow-shaped, slow growing evergreen shrub (H 0,1-0,3 m, W 0,3-0,5 m). Branches prostrate, short, densely arranged. Leaves broadly ovate (1-2 cm), leathery, smooth, bright dark green, lighter beneath. Flowers numerous, in loose clusters, pitcher-like (0,5 cm), white to light pink. Flowering period: April-June. Fruits globose (0,5 cm), fleshy, glossy, bright red, edible. Ripening time: September-October. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Grows in sufficiently drained, partly sandy, light, humus-rich, moderately acidic to neutral soils.
