Description
Large, bushy, deciduous ornamental shrub or small tree (H 5-6 m, depands as well on grafting height, W 3-5 m). Crown rounded to broadly fen-shaped, dense, eventually irregular, very picturesque. Branches widely spreading. Leaves lanceolate (6-8 cm), dark green, autumn colour yellow-orange. Flowers semi-double (2 cm), flower buds red-pink, open flowers pink. Flowering period: April, long flowering. Fruits rare or absent. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Requires light, deep, always moderately moist, but well-drained soils. Variety's full name: Prunus × subhirtella 'Fukubana'. Prunus × subhirtella is probably a hybrid between Prunus incisa and P. pendula or between P. incisa and P. spachiana.
